Reality TV has nothing on what Area Health Education Center of Southwest Oregon (AHECSW) and Mercy Medical Center have planned for Diagnosis Day 2015. Diagnosis Day is an event for Douglas County high school students interested in a healthcare career that provides an opportunity to spend a day working alongside healthcare professionals.
Set for Saturday, April 11, Diagnosis Day 2015-Trauma Day, is co-sponsored by AHECSW, Douglas County Partners for Student Success (DCPSS), and Mercy Medical Center. Patterned after real-life health situations that patients experience, local-area students are given the opportunity to explore a number of different healthcare careers within the hospital by following a mock patient through various departments. The day is filled with simulated experiences that demonstrate the various medical events and stages a real patient may encounter. Activities include patient examination and diagnosis, touring various departments throughout the hospital, ordering lab tests, meeting with a variety of physicians are all part of the exciting and educational event.
Attached is our press release and a schedule for the day. Please feel free to contact me if you have any interest in attending the event. It should be an exciting day!
