The Umpqua Valley STEAM Hub is organizing dynamic professional development opportunities for educators in the weeks ahead!

On Saturday, Oct. 22, learn how to be a Vernier champion at this free workshop taking place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Umpqua Community College.

The workshop will focus on effective use of a variety of Vernier probes and the LabQuest 2 computer interfacing system, all of which are available through the Umpqua Valley STEAM Hub Resource Lending Library.

John Melville of Vernier Software & Technology will be the presenter. Lunch will be provided, and participating educators will receive a $150 stipend. You can register here.

On Nov. 19, the Umpqua Valley STEAM Hub will present the first of a three-day series on how to incorporate Next Generation Science Standards into your teaching practice.

Educators will be asked to attend all three sessions, which take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Douglas Education Service District, 1871 N.E. Stephens St., Roseburg. The other two dates are Dec. 10 and Jan. 7.

The Nov. 19 session will feature guest presenter Caitlin Everett from Beaverton School District and Ryan Zeedyk, an instructional technology specialist from Douglas ESD. Lunch will be provided, as well as stipends for participating educators. Space is limited. Register here.
